Personality
Ceres, in both his time as an esk and his past life, has always been exceedingly patient. He is tempered and cool and is not quick to anger or annoy, and in fact is hardly ever pushed to the point of either at all. He is an extremely well balanced soul and has a keen respect and love for all the earth's living creatures, and cares deeply about their happiness and peace.
He is hard-working and steadfast, and loyal to his work. He spends a large portion of his time moving about the arid biome helping those he comes across, and helping to spread some of Majanthi's teachings that he himself learned from the Wanderer. He tends to the needs of the plants and animals where he can and helps them with whatever they may need- trivial tasks, a helping shoulder to lean on, or looking for food and water. To those who are injured or sick he turns to holistic and natural remedies made of the herbs and surrounding fauna he has access to, as well more spiritual methods he learned from Majanthi.
He enjoys spending time with all sorts of creatures and any other esks that cross his path. Ceres is an exceptionally friendly and loves to share stories with anyone willing to listen, he'll gladly spend an afternoon or an entire day recanting old tales or listening to the ones others know. He is very fond of all animals, but he has a soft spot for mice and other rodents- you can usually find some close by when Ceres is around, and it's not uncommon to find him lounging in the sun with a herd full of small furry friends crawling all over him and resting. His fondness for such creatures has carried over into the form of his Familiar, which plays with the animals, chasing them around and tussling with them happily (and much easier due to the more comparable size).
When prompted, Ceres is happy to pass on the knowledge he learned from Majanthi in his tutelage underneath her. He does not follow Majanthi as fervently as he did in his past life before becoming an esk, but he does do his best to find her troupe from time to time and catch up with her, and watch her work. He comes across some of Majanthi's students from time to time and helps them along with their lessons where he can, and encourages them not to give into agitation or despair and to stick with it- no matter how odd Majanthi's lessons seem to be.
He is not as skilled in the healing arts as Majanthi or others, but he does think his kindness and spiritual support makes enough of a difference to those truly in need of it. He will go to any length in an attempt to do good or settle the unrest in someone's soul, and will sit through long night by someone's side if need be.
He does not particularly care for those that cause intentional harm on others, but as he is non-confrontational he will not interfere right away (though he will pick up the pieces afterward). If someone is doing harm for too long a time, Ceres will try to alleviate some of the malicious energy that individual is full of and try and steer them in a better direction- sometimes this takes many, many attempts. But due to Ceres' overabundance of patience, he is intent and never tires in his endeavors..... which of course is sometimes not such a good thing, much to the annoyance of those that feel Ceres' is being far too persistent.
Ceres would never wish harm or ill-will on anything, even to the point where he will take anger or abuse from others without saying anything (or doing anything) in reaction to it. He also is very one-tracked, and can sometimes get stuck on one thought or train of action for quite a long time without realizing it may not be the best course... eventually he will realize he may need to redirect, but usually he needs it to be pointed out (subtly, or not so much so).
Ceres is very in-tune with spiritual energy and emotions of all kinds, and is easily able to gauge the state of other living things around him. This helps him decide on how best to help those in need, and gives him an edge in understanding what is bothering someone. However much like Majanthi he lacks in understanding his own emotions and needs from time to time- though he does his best to try and take care of himself, as Majanthi taught him in their last lesson together.
