Morrigan and Mara
Morrigan and Mara have a.... strange, and sort of grudging relationship. They do not hate one another, but saying they are 'friendly' would not be an accurate description. At best it seems they somewhat tolerate one another, though at first they didn't really even do that.
Both Mara and Morrigan are distrustful creatures (Mara much more so than Morrigan), and when originally they came to meet one another, neither was really sure what to think. They were both wary of the other and they were slow to approach, because neither was sure what the other intended, or how they should feel about the unexpected meeting. So instead, they watched each other from afar, every aware of the other's eyes from somewhere almost out of sight, and continually wary of the watchfulness.
Mara was an unexpected visitor into Morrigan's cemetery when first they met, and originally Mara did not know Morrigan was there at all. She knew nothing of this new place, only that it was like her own boundary and not so- this place was so much quieter, and so much calmer.... But she becomes immediately aware of something moving among the graves. A human, carrying a lamp for light, is moving among the stones and immediately Mara takes that human as being up to no good- so, as old habits die hard, Mara immediately moved to rid them of the space. She chased the human off in a rush of terror and fright, after showering them with a barrage of whispers and shadows, and terrible, ghastly things.
As things went quiet again, and the crunch of the humans feet over the cobble faded off into the light along with the glow of the lantern, the cemetery fell still again..... but there was the unmistakable sense of being watched, and Mara bristled under the sensation. She is instantly aware of something sitting quiet and motionless on a nearby headstone, dark eyes glittering in the low-light, intense and almost leering. Mara was immediately wary of the stranger who appeared from nowhere, and more so under what piercing look she was earning.
Was she trespassing here? Was she wrong to chase the human off like that? Was this stranger displeased?
Morrigan had watched the entire exchange from the sideline, completely focused on the newcomer and their quick action taken against the human. A few times in Morrigan's life she's mused about interfering with the humans directly, out of spite or annoyance, or whatever else- but she never would actually act on these fleeting thoughts. Not like this new esk had..... and it was interesting, and intriguing, to say the least.
Mara was less enthused with Morrigan's sudden appearance, and immediately grew defensive under the stare. She grew rigid, arched her back, her ears falling back and on edge, demanding what Morrigan's issue was and why she was being leered at. Morrigan did not react to it, other than to keep staring, and Mara was none too pleased with it.
It was a bit of a rocky first meeting, but eventually after Mara had settled a bit from being defensive, she and Morrigan moved on to simply watching one another. They skirted about each other simply observing for quite a long time until eventually Mara approached Morrigan, getting closer and closer with each passing attempt.
At first they were little but silent company, watching each other as they went about their day to day, aware of the other nearby and always taking note. Eventually they worked themselves up into small chit-chat, asking questions here and there, prodding but carefully, and doing little things just to see what action they earn from the other and let them gauge each other better.
Their relationship has worked around to something of content silence, where in they are fine to simply be in each others company and exist. It is slow going, but eventually they could be described as associates, and then perhaps some day in the future maybe 'friends'... only time will tell.
Generally they do seem inclined to each other, and able to coexist mostly peacefully. Every once in awhile they will do something for the other, subtly so, but it something of an act of kindness on their part toward eachother.
