Lior and Tassi
The relationship between Lior and Tassi is an old one, they have known eachother for a long time and since before they were both esk- though only Lior remembers the time before either of them were Transformed.
In Lior's earlier years, he was a human child who used to visit a water garden with his father and sibling, spending many a summer enjoying the wilds and what the area had to offer inside a hut built upon the shore. While here, he and his sibling took to feeding a small wolf pup that had been left alone and was struggling to survive near to where the hut was. They fed the poor creature for a time, but eventually their father found out about the behavior and quickly shut it down. The two children left the water garden that summer and never saw the pup again- naturally so as it had undergone a Transformation and became an esk, known as Tassi.
As Lior grew he eventually grew destitute and homeless, and made his way back to the water garden that Tassi calls home. He grew frail and malnourished as he lost his way, his feet taking him ever closer to the water garden and lake to which he'd used to visit as a boy with his sibling and his father. Without realizing what he was doing, he'd come here to try and reclaim a bit of the happiness and joy he'd found in this place, yearning for a sensation of which he hadn't felt in much, much too long. He approached the edge of the water and sat down, losing himself in the gentle lapping of the waves and the soft breeze in this quiet, peaceful place. It brought back all those memories of his youth, the fun he had had in the vegetation around, playing with his sibling, enjoying the water and the buzz of dragonflies- and even memories of that little wolf pup he had once tried to care for. It was a wonderful little respite from all the hardship he had had to endure for so long, to simply be able to sit there and look back on it at all, the world peaceful and calm.... a good way to end a life that had been so hard for so long.
Tassi was there, instantly aware of something intruding his Boundary, but more than the intrusion there seemed something familiar about this human, though Tassi was not quite sure what. It was a little pull, a tug in Tassi's core at the sight of this human.... subconsciously he recognized this frail, weathered, and old person as one of those children that had fed him in his past life, and for it there was a connection between them that Tassi didn't quite understand.
Tassi didn't recognize Lior as that child, not all the way- since Tassi remembers nothing of their passed life- but regardless, there was this strange sense of knowing and familiarity that came when Tassi saw this human, and he couldn't walk away. He got closer, drawn in and almost lost in the sensation- Tassi Transformed the human without consciously knowing it, or intending to. It was something that happened in a moment of suspended feeling and emotion from both Lior and Tassi, recollection and nostalgia, wishes and hopes and wisps of things one remembered all too well, and one couldn't remember at all.
Once Tassi had transformed Lior however, the pull that had drawn Tassi close to the human was shattered in caution and even little bits of fear- and Tassi quickly put some distance between the now newly formed Esk Lior and himself.... and kept up with that distance and caution for quite some time.
Once Lior had become and Esk bound to the same place Tassi was, they were ever in close proximity to one another, but they kept their distance to start. Tassi was not at all sure what had actually happened with the Transformation or that he had any part in it, so Lior suddenly popping up confused him quite a bit- and because he didn't understand, he wasn't very keen on getting close to this new esk, at least not anytime soon. Tassi did keep an eye on Lior though, watching him from afar and keeping tabs on him and his behavior around the boundary- there was still a sense of familiarity and connection between them, and it tugged and pulled at Tassi, urging him to stay close and get closer over time. Tassi did not wish to stay his distance from Lior forever, since there was that connection still between them (even if Tassi didn't quite understand it), so while Tassi took his time and stayed at a distance to start, he never went too far, as he wanted to stay near to this new esk he'd had a hand in creating.
It takes awhile, but eventually Tassi and Lior did grow closer to one another, and even got to the point where they could spend time in close proximity to one another, maybe just sitting in silence for an afternoon, or quietly following one or the other around the Boundary. Lior is much less cautious than Tassi is, and for it a bit more friendly and bright- it's a good mix between the two of them. Lior's more fanciful and easy-going personality offsets Tassi's more cautious and quiet personality, but they are both patient and tempered enough not to butt heads too much and scare one another away. Tassi tends to be a bit more serious than Lior though, especially in terms of protecting the Boundary and having a sense of duty in relation to it- Lior isn't much like that, he won't go out of his way to protect the Boundary from little threats, but he doesn't actively harm the Boundary either, he just leaves it be generally.
Eventually they became quite relaxed around one another, and can easily spend time in eachother's company without too much nervousness or anything of the like. You can find the two of them spending an afternoon swimming together, basking on the shore/rocks, or occasionally even tussling with one another or entertaining one of Lior's more fanciful games. Lior travels quite often, and can be gone for weeks at a time, but he always comes back to the water garden- and when he does he brings back all these tales and stories of grandeur of the adventures he's had, and the things he's seen, and the other creatures and esk he may have met. Lior recants these stories for Tassi, retelling them so Tassi may learn of the new things and experience some of the adventure Lior had in his own way. Tassi is quite interested in all these stories that Lior has to tell, and will gladly spend a day listening to his friend, and imagining the things he's told- Tassi is a curious soul by nature, so hearing and learning all these new things is quite the treat for him.
Lior also has a habit of tagging along as Tassi goes on patrols around the Boundary, keeping him company and helping to pass the time with little games, general chatter, or telling little stories in the meantime too. Lior is good company on these excursions, and is generally good at knowing whether Tassi would prefer to either walk in silence, be entertained, or even prefer to be alone.
Lior has an inkling to who Tassi was in his past life, and why the two of them seem to be so connected- Lior remembers quite a lot of his time as a human, whereas Tassi doesn't remember near anything of his passed life at all. Lior does think Tassi was that pup he used to feed, and he's quite certain of it, but he does not bring it up. Since Tassi does not remember any of this, Lior decides to keep it to himself, as he feels it will be better not to drudge up the past too much.
Generally they are content in one another's company, and consider eachother friends. Tassi is not so comfortable socializing with others, but Lior is an excpetion, and one he has no issue at all spending time with.... which is quite fortunate, as things might have been a bit difficult if they were on rocky terms with one another, since they do share the same Boundary. Even with how big it is, it is much better things are light between the two, rather than wary.
