Personality
Nephele is basically the definition of a 'go with the flow' sort of attitude. She is an extremely relaxed individual and you will rarely ever find her in a state outside the realm of cool, content and mellow. She does no lightly get angry at anything, and when she does it is cause for concern.
She is a very relaxed figure and will happily spend all of her days simply wandering the forest of her Boundary, picking her way through the undergrowth, up the mountainsides, and even hopping through the treetops. She enjoys seeing the large array of life and living things her extensive Boundary has to offer, and she especially likes how untouched some of it is from human hands. She loves the natural flow and progression of things, and seeing the way plants and animals naturally live out their lives, end them, and then new life begins anew. She has a soft spot for young things, like saplings, new sprouts of vegetation, and the young animals and insects- she enjoys the ever recurring promise of new life, even when she has a fondness for the old and ever-lasting.
She is friendly and easy to get along with, in the event she actually decides to interact with others. She's generally more content to simply walk through life, quiet and watching everything around her- but she is not afraid to interact with things where she sees fit. She's rather fond of having little stints of playing around with the birds and rodents in the treetops, and will even gladly follow a herd of elk around for a week or two, just roaming. She's less likely to approach the larger carnivores in her Boundary, such as bears and mountain lions, but on occasion she'll climb trees, fish, or sunbath with them and be just dandy.
She loves newborn animals however, regardless of species. Whenever she gets the chance, she will tumble about and take naps with elk calf's, bear/mountain lion cubs, and even wolf and coyote pups where she finds them. And she loves to climb trees and watch young birds and owls branching when the time comes, or give them a hand when they tumble from their nests. It's also fun for her to watch them grow... though there is a bit of melancholy that hits her to see those she once knew so young and barely into this world finally leave it- but she is a very old esk, and she's gotten used to it. It will still leave her a little wistful though, but it helps to know there will be more life around the corner to replace the ones lost.
Neph has a great affinity for trees, since she feels she was in some ways 'born' of the tree that ended her past life as a human. She feels very connected with trees of all sorts, and especially the tree that is her Nature Feature. She loves to climb into trees and hop between their branches, and see how high up she can go. On occasion she has even managed to make it passed the tree canopy and see out, and it's always a rather dazzling experience for her.
She even likes the trees that have fallen though, and the ones that are old, gnarled, and rotting. The trees dead and barren and burned are interesting too, and she has a keen sense of when any tree in her boundary falls- the question 'if a tree falls in a forest, does it make a sound?' has a definite yes for Neph. She doesn't necessarily 'hear' it as a sound, but she does know it falls, she can just sense it.
She also has an odd habit, or more a tick- where she will reach her front feet as high up on a tree as she can and stand on her tipp-toes, imaging if she tries hard enough she can reach the branches without having to jump. It's like she believes if she just stretches, and reaches, just enough- she'll grab those branches no problem..... of course it doesn't really work out that way, she has to actually jump. But sometimes she gets so lost in this 'reaching' habit she loses her balance, and ends up toppling over flat on her back. (Sort of falling like a tree herself)
Neph is not overly fond of humans, but she doesn't hate them either- they just aren't around very often. For the few who do venture into the depths of her Boundary, she generally sticks up in the trees and watches them from afar, curious, but never enough to approach.
She is a very trusting individual and does not think of ill of anyone, and for this she is a bit naive, especially when coming into contact with those wishing to trick or deceive her. In Neph's case, age does not equal wisdom- she may be old, and have been around a long time, but she's still rather young at heart and hasn't wised up (nor will she likely ever). Since her Boundary is so sheltered and doesn't usually get invaded from the outside, she'd got little experience with esk from other biomes and parts of the planet, and little experience with humans and their habits as well.
