Boundary
Nephele's Boundary is a large, extremely expansive ancient forest known as an 'old-growth' forest. These forests are those that have been in existence since ancient times, and in Neph's case; since the time of the first peoples in North America.
The forest is very wet, and is what is known as a temperate rainforest, where her NF sitka spruce is very common. It rains, as well as snows quite often, and the forest is very humid and misty nearly all the time. Clear sunny days with little moisture happen, but are rare- generally in the summer the climate it just mild, and winters are very cold.
There is a section of the Boundary that butts up, and crawls up a mountainside- which adds to the mist and lingering moisture that seeps into the forest. It is also one of the main factors that went into how Nephele's Elemental manifested; Mountain Mist Clouds.
The area her Boundary encompass is very big, and Neph wanders it's entirety constantly, and getting through every inch of generally takes several weeks in total. The trees are old, and high reaching, with large, thick trunks, and there are several spaces within the forest where human hands have never touched, nor tread.
The Boundary is also very diverse in it's local flora and fauna- there are a multitude of different habits within, with many animals and such. These range from many types of birds, raptors, frogs, bugs, and mammals- including rabbits, foxes, wolves, elk, deer, bears, etc. There are a number of creeks and streams running through the forest, which provide homes for fish, amphibians, and other such things- as well as water and a food source for other animals.
(For reference, Nephe's Boundary can be modeled the Old-Growth forests found along the coasts of western coasts of Canada, northern California, and Alaska.... to which her NF is common)
Nephele Interacting With Her Boundary:
Neph wanders the Boundary constantly, walking up and down it's entire length and never spending too long in one place. She's probably walked it a million times over the long years, but it never ceases to please her, nor gets boring. She loves her home and she likes to really just take in everything it has to offer, and go with the natural flow of the trees, the plants, the streams, and every other living thing.
She has a great affinity for trees, given she's under the impression she was sort of 'born' from a tree into her new life as an esk. She loves every tree in her Boundary dearly, but she loves the old ones, and the oldest sitka spruce trees the most. She's so in-tune with trees, the question 'if a tree falls in a forest, does it make a sound?' has a definite yes for Neph. She doesn't necessarily 'hear' it as a sound, but she does know it falls, she can just sense it. She can sense when any tree in her Boundary falls, at all times.
She also loves to climb trees, and see how high up she can get. She'll even hop between trees and branches close enough together. She can go awhile without touching the forest floor again. She's very graceful and surprisingly very good up high on the branches- she spends lots of time up there, watching, playing, or even just messing with birds, and squirrels, and visiting.
She also likes to watch things from above and in the trees, especially humans that are hiking through. It's higher ground and keeps her out of direct view when she wants to not be seen- and the trees are honestly the best vantage point.
The cold and the damp of the forest does not bother her, she's totally find to walk through torrential ran unbothered and undeterred- letting herself get soaked. The same applies to when it snows, she loves snow, and especially likes the crunch of the snow underfoot...... that being said she does enjoy warmth and sun, and she is very fond of finding those patches of sunlight that break through the mountain chill and snow that blankets the Boundary in winter, and sunbath for a few hours.
She's not an active force in terms of the forest's health and wellbeing- she doesn't get involved she just lets things do as they will. She'll be around to see it, whatever comes about, but she doesn't interfere with the natural progression of things.
